IBADUR_ RAHMAN…..

 

In  Surah Al-Furqan, Allah provides a glimpse of some of the characteristics of His slaves that he calls “Ibad-ur-Rahman”.

 

And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those:

 

Who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, “Peace!”

 

Those who spend the night in adoration of their Lord prostrate and standing.

 

Those who say: “Our Lord! avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous, ” Evil indeed is it as an abode, and as a place to rest in”.

 

Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not stingy, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes).

 

Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such life as Allah has made sacred, except for just cause, nor commit fornication, and any that does this (not only) meets punishment. ( But) the Penalty on the Day of Judgment will be doubled to him, and he will dwell therein in ignominy, unless he repents, believes and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

 

And whoever repents and does good has truly turned to Allah with an (acceptable) conversion.

 

Those who witness no falsehood and, if they pass by futility, they pass by it with honorable (avoidance).

 

Those who, when they are admonished with the Signs of their Lord, droop not down at them as if they were deaf or blind.

 

Those who pray, “Our Lord! grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous.”

 

Those are the ones who will be rewarded with the highest place in heaven, because of their patient constancy: therein shall they be met with salutations and peace, dwelling therein; how beautiful an abode and place of rest! Say (to the Rejecters): “My Lord is not uneasy because of you if ye call not on Him: but ye have indeed rejected (Him), and soon will come the inevitable (punishment)!”

 

📗 (Al-Furqan 25:63-77)

 

We should keep in mind that the servant of Allah is different from ordinary creations. Being given the honor of the title “Ibad-your-Rahman” implies the satisfaction of God by their deeds and qualities. Here, in these verses, Allah is describing the 13 unique qualities which raise a human being from the level of ordinary creation to being the beloved servant of Allah.

🔺Surah Al Furqan, The Criterion, is to distinguish between the truth and falsehood. Out of Allah’s mercy, Allah sent us _  The Qur’an .His name Ar Rahman – The Most Merciful is mentioned throughout the surah

 

🔺We want to know why did Allah mention Ibad Ar Rahman (عباد الرحمن) – The slaves of The Most Merciful – in Surah Al Furqan ? The entire surah is in preparation until we reaches the verses which explain who are ‘Ibad Ar Rahman’ (عباد الرحمن).

 

🔺The disbelievers reached the peak of their disbelief in this surah. Allah consoled the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم to not  worry about their sins because Allah will take care of it.

 

🔺Allah showed His grandness in the creation of the heavens and earth, and in the end when they were told to prostrate to Ar Rahman – The Most Merciful – they said, ‘what is Ar Rahman’? And this the peak of disbelief. Ar Rahman is a name that should make you come forward and believe, but they moved further back. Allah replied back to all of the questions the disbelievers were asking except for the question ‘what is Ar Rahman’? because they do not deserve to be answered.

 

🔺All of Allah’s name are blessed because there is an impact on you.We cannot see Allah in this duniya, but we can see the impact of His name and attributes in this universe .

 

وَهُوَ الَّذِىْ جَعَلَ الَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ خِلْفَةً لِّمَنْ اَرَادَ اَنْ يَّذَّكَّرَ  اَوْ اَرَادَ شُكُوْرًا (٦٢)

 

And He it is who has put the night and the day in succession, for such who desires to remember or desires to show his gratitude. (62)

🔺 Ibad Ar Rahman (عباد الرحمن) are benefitting from the day and night to make them closer to Allah and it makes them to be grateful. If they miss a worship in the morning, they do it in the evening, and vice versa. But not  everyone is benefitting from the day and night.

 

وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمٰنِ الَّذِيْنَ يَمْشُوْنَ عَلَى الْاَرْضِ  هَوْنًا وَّاِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ الْجٰهِلُوْنَ قَالُوْا سَلٰمًا (٦٣)

 

And the (faithful) slaves of the Most Gracious (Allah) are those who walk on the earth with humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them [with bad words], they reply back with mild words of gentleness. (63)

 

🔺Their name consists of two words (عباد) – servants and (الرحمن) – The Most Merciful. All of us are servants of Allah – the believer and disbeliever of us, but they are (عباد) because they chose to become a slave of Allah, they were not forced into it.

 

🔺It shows that they cannot be a slave of Allah unless  their heart is filled with Allah’s greatness, majesty, and beauty. What will it produce ? The heart will prostrate to Allah.

 

🔺Allah created you and honoured you – Allah did not want you to be a slave to money, family, or house – Allah created you to be an honourable slave of Allah.

 

🔺We can easily say ‘I am a slave of Allah’, ‘I am poor to Allah’ – but it is only Allah Who knows if you have this title or not. Subhan Allah.

🔺 Their hearts are so low and humble to Allah  – it is as if they are waiting at Allah’s door – hoping, begging that it will open for them. Ibad Ar Rahman do not know if Allah is happy or pleased with them. They are at Allah’s door not only at time of worship (they are beyond this), but at every time of their life.

 

🔺 They are (عباد) of (الرحمن) which means they did not reach that level without the mercy of Allah. Subhan Allah. They did not reach this level with their might and power but with the mercy of Allah. It is difficult to do an action unless it is done from the heart _  you will find it easy when you do things from the heart. Subhan Allah.

 

🔺I have no power, I am a slave, I don’t own myself, but I need You, Ar Rahman, I need Your mercy to survive. You feel the squeeze in your heart, you have 0% hope in yourself and 100% hope in Allah’s mercy – this is attachment.

 

🔺The end of Ibad Ar Rahman is to enter paradise, and no one can enter paradise without the mercy of Allah.

 

🔺The description of their outer characteristics could not have come if they had their hearts not been attached.

🔺 First description is their ‘walking’ meaning their living. It did not mention praying nor fasting in the first description. Your way of walking shows who you are. And it mentions specifically (الأرض) – earth – to show their humbleness. They are not walking on the ‘sky’ – as if they are up there, they are ‘down to earth’.

(وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمٰنِ الَّذِيْنَ يَمْشُوْنَ عَلَى الْاَرْضِ)

 

🔺If you perfect your inside, then Allah will perfect your outside. We feel we want to perfect our outside because it fulfills our desires.

🔺How do they walk? They walk (هو نأ) – they walk gently, easy and lightly. They do not even want to hurt the earth. And that gentle walk shows their inner. They are not making too much noise and commotion. Inside they have (وقار) – dignity and (سكينه ) tranquility. How do we get tranquility? With the remembrance of Allah.

 

🔺Before they do anything, they will think – so they are less prone to error.

 

🔺Their heart is humble. And they do not give opinions of what Allah has commanded. If Allah commands something, we are not in a position to give our opinion about it. And now people hold conferences about Allah’s commands to give their opinion. Subhan Allah.

 

🔺The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said that everyone loves a humble person. Why do people do not want to be humble? Why? Because they do not see their faults, if someone does not see their faults, they will be proud. A person who is humble to Allah will see his faults in front of his eyes all the time.

🔺 One of the tricks of the shaitan is to make think you are already one of the Ibad Ar Rahman – don’t worry, you just came out of Ramadan, you’re all good, you’re already one of them. We seek refuge in Allah from the accursed shaitan.

🔺 When people praise you, remind yourself that it is Allah who covered your sins from others. And do not expose your self or your sins. People think they are humble if they expose their sins, but this is not the way because Allah conceals your sins, so do not expose them.

Whom do they meet❓

 

🔺They will meet people those who are ignorant. The definition of ignorant is one who does not know Allah.

 

🔺You will feel thorns, you will feel pain when dealing with people who do not know about Allah. But how will they reply to them❓They will say (سلاما). Meaning peace.They will think before they say something. Allah guides them when to speak. So if you take care of your inner, Allah will take care of your outer.

 

🔺 We feel comfortable around those who know about Allah because their (عباد الرحمن) dealings are calm and peaceful.

 

🔺 Allah will allow (عباد الرحمن) to taste paradise on this earth before they enter paradise.

سبحان الله…

 

🔺They  (عباد الرحمن)will have  a peaceful death, and they will be at peace in their graves. They will enter paradise in peace and they will be told (سلاما).

🔘Their response to the ignorant is ‘peace’ 🔘

 

▪When people ignorant about Islam taunt and attack them verbally, the servants of Allah’s response is ‘peace’. We don’t want to fight you. We just want to spread the message of peace. Servants of Allah should not get drawn into fights even if others taunt or verbally abuse them. Through such manners, they will be able attract others to the beauty of the belief they have; as Allah (SWT) ordered His prophet (pbuh) in Surah Fussilat (41:34-35) to act:

 

And (O Prophet), goodness and evil are not equal.  Repel evil with what is best.  You will see that he with whom you had enmity, has become your closest friend.

🔺Surah Al Furqan is the only surah that mentions (تبارك) ‘Blessed is He’ three times.

 

🔺 Allah mentioned first the inner attributes of Ibad – slaves who have submitted to Ar Rahman – The Most Merciful.

 

🔺Then Allah mentions their outer attributes and it was their dealing with people that was mentioned first before their worships. You will find a person’s true character in how they deal with those who are ignorant.

 

🔺Because they are Ibad Ar Rahman , they have mercy and compassion to every one.

🔘They spend their nights in worship🔘

وَالَّذِيْنَ يَبِيْتُوْنَ  لِرَبِّهِمْ سُجَّدًا وَّقِيَامًا (٦٤)

And those who spend the night in worship of their Lord, prostrate and standing (64)

🔺The night prayers are the best prayers to offer after the obligatory.

🔺These prayers are at night, when no one is around, and this person will sacrifice his sleep after a long day to pray to Allah – this is how much they love Allah. 

سبحان الله

🔺Instead of saying (يقيمون الصلاة ), they establish the night prayer – Allah says  (يَبِيْتُوْنَ) which means to spend the night.

🔺 Their intention to sleep is only to gain strength in order to wake up for tahajjud, and even if you do not wake up, you still get the reward for the night prayers.سبحان الله

🔺And what makes them stay all night because ( لِرَبِّهِمْ ) for their Rabb Who has nurtured them.

سُجَّدً

is mentioned first because prostration is the nearest place to Allah. They really want to do the sujood, and Allah did not say  (سجد) but rather  ً (سُجَّدًا) which emphasizes the sujood in the best manner.

( وَّقِيَامًا )🔺

Then standing is mentioned because in the night prayer you spend a long time standing.That’s why it is called (قيام الليل) – literally ‘night standing’. Allah does not get bored of you until you get bored. سبحان الله . How you deal with Allah is how he deals with you.

🔺Alhasan Al Basri was asked, why do the people who establish the night prayer have glowing faces❓ He said because they are secretly standing at night to pray to Allah, and as a reward from Allah – Allah will give them from His noor, from His light.

⏰What are the means to establish the night prayer❓

⌚Ibadur Rahman starts preparing for qiyam al layl from the time they wake up in the morning.

During the day, they say more istighfar.We need more istighfar in order to be able to stand for the night prayer as Sins weigh down a person.

سبحان الله

⌚Make it your goal to wake up for the tajjahud. And if you missed it, you will feel the pain – this shows that it was truly your concern. You will get rewarded for your concern and intention

سبحان الله

⌚Make dua’a to Allah to make it easy for you to establish the night prayer. 

⌚The shaitan before we go to sleep places three knots➰➰➰ on us to make us feel heavy and sleep long. So when you wake up, if you remember Allah, then the first knot is undone➰➰. Now it’s a bit looser, so if you make wudu, the second knot is undone➰. And when you say ‘Allah Akbar’ – the start of your prayer, the third knot is undone✔.

⌚Allah descends in the last third of the night in a way that suits His majesty. Allah will call and say if anyone wants to be forgiven, I will forgive Him, if anyone wants something, I will grant Him. And imagine we cannot hear the call of Allah – if we did, we will never sleep just to wait for that call.

سبحان الله

⌚We need to focus on the obligatory prayers before the voluntary. And we need to do the obligatory with ihsan.

⌚What helps a person to reach the night prayer? The previous ayah tells us this, that during the day, they say (salama) – they do not argue and fight throughout the day.If you are peaceful in the morning, then it will make your night at peace. And the peace starts from you. You can spread the peace in your house, in your community…..

وَالَّذِيْنَ يَقُوْلُوْنَ رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَـنَّمَ  ‌ۖ    اِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا  ‌ۖ  (٦٥)

And those who say: “Our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell. Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment.” (65)

✌🏻There are two types of dua’a (المقال) and (الحال). Sometimes you can say your dua’a and Allah knows exactly what you want (المقال) , and sometimes you can be in a desperate situation and without saying anything (الحال) , Allah answers you and helps you.

🔥Their dua’a is about the torment of fire. They did not say 

(اللهم اني اعوذ بك من النار ) – Oh Allah I seek refuge in

You from the hellfire. Since they have so much yaqeen  (يقين _  certainty),they feel as if the fire is right at their faces. The word (avert_اصرف)is used when you are feeling something.It is like a visual to them. And this is an indicator that their hearts have so much yaqeen. We can acquire knowledge about hellfire and paradise, but yaqeen is when you feel it and it makes you submit, so the yaqeen enters the heart.And you need to ask Allah to give you yaqeen.

🔥This dua’a regarding the hellfire shows how humble they are – despite after having spent the night in prayer they ask Allah to avert them from the hellfire.It shows that  they are not satisfied with their deeds. They’re afraid they might have riya’a (showing-off), so they ask Allah not to punish them

🔥After fearing the torment of the hellfire, they express their condition

َِّ( اِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا )

– its torment is attached, inseparable.They do not even want a dip in hellfire. May Allah avert  us all from the torment of hellfire.

اللهم امين.

🔥They ask for safety from Hell- Fire:

🎐In spite of their performance of both voluntary and mandatory prayers they do not feel that they have done enough and they still fear the punishment of Allah. 

🎐They are so humble, before Allah, that they do not say, ’Allah give us Heaven for the good deeds we have done’, rather they ask for safety from Hell- Fire for the evil deeds they might have done knowingly or unknowingly. 

🎐No one should ever think that he deserves Heaven by his deeds. One can never pay back a small portion of the blessings of Allah in this life only, even if he spent all his life in worship. This is why the prophet (saaw) said in a Hadeeth: “No one shall enter Heaven by his deeds”; when his companions replied “even you, o messenger of Allah”, he said “even me; unless Allah bestow his mercy on me”

سبحان الله

📗💝📗💝📗💝📗💝📗💝📗

اِنَّهَا سَآءَتْ  مُسْتَقَرًّا وَّمُقَامًا (٦٦) 

🔥Evil indeed it (Hell) is as an adobe and as a place to rest in. (66)

🔥The Hell fire isْ ( سَآءَت)ْ it is the most evil because it is the worst ( ْ  مُسْتَقَرًّا ) place and (وَّمُقَامًا) cannot rest. 

🔥It shows the Ibad Ar Rahman know more about Allah and as a result they have more fear, but a positive fear. 

🔥Despite the Ibad Ar Rahman doing good all the time, they still have fear.

🔥 When you make a dua’a you really need to express yourself and your neediness.

🔥Prophet Ayoub (as) who lost everything, his children and became very sick. And when he made the dua’a to Allah, he only said: ‘the harm has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the Merciful.’ Which shows the believers do not attribute any evil to Allah, and they always think good about Allah. 

سبحان الله

وَالَّذِيْنَ اِذَاۤ اَنْفَقُوْا لَمْ يُسْرِفُوْا وَلَمْ  يَقْتُرُوْا وَكَانَ بَيْنَ ذٰلِكَ قَوَامًا (٦٧)

And those, who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor niggardly, but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes). (67)

💸 Note the sequence of their attributes, first it shows they make peace with everything, because what’s the point of your worship if you are not making peace around you. Then their worship makes them humble.

💸When they spend, they are moderate. They do not over-spend (ْ يُسْرِفُوْا)and over-spending is not the

ِsame for all – it depends upon your income. So we cannot give a number.

💸(اسراف):You can buy something that is within your budget, but if your intention is to be better than someone else, or to show-off and this is (اسراف) because you are exceeding your boundary.

💸When buying something, it should not be attached to your heart. Also when getting it, it should not take up all your time to get it. Also neglecting your necessities and buying secondary things is  (اسراف).

💸(ْ  ُۡ يَقْتُرُوْا ): to be miser. They do not spend any of their money and some people think this is being pious but it’s not, because spending on your household is a charity.

💸 Allah loves to see His blessings on you, so when they buy, they buy for the sake of Allah to show their thankfulness to Allah.

( قَوَامًا ًَ۬)

straight and established, they keep up this moderate level of spending.

💸That is they behave in neither a miserly nor extravagant manner. This is because they know that whatever wealth they have is blessing from Allah, and He has given it to them as a trust. Thus, they spend their wealth in a manner pleasing to Allah, neither hoarding their money away so that no one can benefit from it, nor spending it in a wasteful and unproductive manner. A Muslim’s first obligation is towards himself and his family. Once a Muslim has satisfied the needs of his family then, whatever wealth is left, can be spent in the cause of Allah.

💸We ask Allah to make us Ibad Ar Rahman, may Allah allow us to spend the night in prayers, always fear the hellfire, and spend for the sake of Allah….

اللهم امين

وَالَّذِيْنَ لَا يَدْعُوْنَ مَعَ اللّٰهِ اِلٰهًا اٰخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُوْنَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِىْ حَرَّمَ اللّٰهُ اِلَّا بِالْحَـقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُوْنَ‌ ۚ وَمَنْ يَّفْعَلْ ذٰ لِكَ يَلْقَ اَثَامًا ۙ (٦٧)

And those who invoke not any other ilâh (god) along with Allâh, nor kill such person as Allâh has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse – and whoever does this shall receive the punishment (68) 

(صفات منفيه)

: negated attributes. In the first part of the description of Ibad Ar Rahman we see what they do, and now we see what they do not do.

Human beings can fall into sin, and just because they are Ibad Ar Rahman does not mean they are immaculate from sin. They are even afraid that they can fall into these major sins.

This is the most important quality. Without this one, the others are all useless. The real servants of God do not associate anyone with God. There are two main types of association. First, the obvious type of association is when a person includes people or other gods with Allah. The second type of association is less obvious, and it is when a person allows worldly pursuits to interfere with his worship of God. Some examples of this are: neglecting required religious duties for the sake of a job; or fearing people more than you fear Allah. Servants of Allah do not worship anyone or anything other than one and only one God.

(وَلَا يَقْتُلُوْنَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِىْ حَرَّمَ اللّٰه)ُ :

❌They don’t kill without reason❌

They don’t kill or destroy any life, which Allah has made sacred, without a valid religious reason. The only reasons in which a life may be taken are

🔸a)If a Muslim judge orders someone to be killed as a punishment for a certain crime which deserves such a punishment for killing a innocent soul.

🔸b) During war, while fighting for a Muslim army, in which only fighters are killed but not innocent civilians; or

🔸c) while defending the life, property, or honor of oneself or ones family.

ولا يزنون (68)

❌ They do not commit adultery❌

💞They only have sexual relationships with their spouses and do not indulge in such acts with others. They preserve their honor and sanctity; and restrain themselves from the lust and desire which might seem good for a short period of time, but ultimately destroys the person in this world and hereafter.

💕Adultery is something that is a sin that is taken in steps, and it begins with a sickness of the heart, which is the love of desire. It begins with the eyes, smile, talk, then meeting. 

👉🏻Also, Allah did not say

‘do not commit zina’

👉🏻He said do not come close to zina because it has many doors. 

👀The Prophet (pbuh) said that zina can also be committed with the eyes, ears, and speech.

⚠Meaning you have to be very careful, you cannot say ‘he is like my brother / uncle’ this is the talk of the shaitan, because the shaitan will beautify the sin.

Because one sin opens the door to other sins.

 

 

 

 

9. They do not witness any falsehood:


They do not become part of ignorant acts nor witness them. If, by chance, they come across such situations, then they should restrain themselves and honorably walk away.

10. They do not drop deaf and blind on the signs of God:

According to the scholars this has two meanings. First, that the servants of Allah don’t feel bored and close their minds when someone mentions the signs of God in front of them. Nor do they pay no heed to the person trying to guide them. Second, they don’t follow anyone blindly. Rather they use the wisdom Allah has given them to understand His message and then they follow it with strength and perseverance.

11. They pray for righteous wives (and women pray for righteous husbands) and children:

They pray for God to grant them righteous spouses and children who are a coolness for their eyes, and bring about peace and satisfaction to their souls. They pray that their spouses and children help them on their journey towards Heaven and not be a burden. The Prophet (PBUH) mentioned in a Hadeeth that the joy of this world is a righteous wife. Spouses support each other and they are the cornerstone of any family. Thus, a righteous spouse will help you face the difficulties of this world, resist its temptations, and raise, God willing, righteous children.

12. They wish to be the leaders of the pious believers:

That is, they ask Allah to invoke such good qualities in them that they be fit to be the leaders of the good believers. Here, an important thing has to be mentioned. According to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) it is strongly prohibited to seek leadership. In fact leadership should not be given to those who ask for it. It should be given to those who are of excellent religious qualities and are reluctant to become leaders. Thus, in this verse, the servants of Allah are praying to Allah (not asking other people) to give them a chance to be so good that they would be considered as leaders of the already good Muslims.

13. They are patient and consistent:

This is one of the most important features. Servants of Allah are patient for whatever burdens they have to bear for the sake of Allah. They are also persistent with their good deeds. Even if these good deeds are few one should not stop doing them. The Prophet (PBUH) said that a small good deed done with consistency is better than a big good deed that is done inconsistently. In the end of the verses Allah says that the reward for Muslims in which these thirteen qualities exist is the highest level of Heaven. There they shall live forever in perfect peace.
