REVIVAL OF SUNNAH 1

๐ŸŽ€REVIVAL OF SUNNAH๐ŸŽ€

EATING LESS.

๐Ÿฉ Part of the etiquette of eating, is moderation in eating and not filling the stomach.

๐Ÿฎ The most that a Muslim is permitted to do in this regard is to divide his stomach into three thirds: one-third for food, one-third for drink and one-third for air.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Prophet salallaahu ‘alaihi wa salaam said, โ€œA man does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat enough to keep him alive. But if he must do that, then one-third for his food, one-third for his drink and one-third for his air.โ€

๐Ÿ“Ž (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2380; Ibn Maajah, 3349; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 1939).

๐Ÿฉ This keeps the body healthy and light, because eating oneโ€™s fill makes the body heavy, which leads to laziness in worship and work. One-third is defined as being one-third of that which would make you feel full.

๐Ÿ“Ž Al-Mawsooโ€™ah, 25/332

๐Ÿฎ Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Messenger of Allah (salAllaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said, “The food of two persons suffices for three persons, and the food of three persons suffices for four persons.”

๐Ÿ“Ž [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

๐Ÿ‘‰ We sometimes tend to forget how much we have eaten, especially when we are too hungry. The next time, remember to revive this sunnah.

๐Ÿฉ When you are hosting a feast, do not force people to eat after a certain limit. And when you are the guest, eat moderately without rushing to have more.

๐Ÿฎ Jabalah bin Suhaim reported:

We were with ‘Abdullah bin Az-Zubair (May Allah be pleased with them) in a time of famine, then we were provided with dates. (Once) when we were eating, ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) passed by us and said: “Do not eat two dates together, for Messenger of Allah (salAllaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) prohibited it, unless one seeks permission from his brother (partner).”

๐Ÿ“Ž [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

๐Ÿ’ Do not forget to teach others, especially children.

๐Ÿ’ž Ya Allah, Ya Nafi’ ย help us revive this sunnah and grant us Good health.

Aameen.
